The thought that there is a secret hidden somewhere in their past life is a thought that excites many children.

Likewise the thought that at any moment the family pet might actually discover a really strange animal lurking in the garden is bound to excite.

These are in fact the starting points of two extraordinary books: “Aunty Marmalade” (written for 7 to 11 year olds) with its secret past and “Mrs Poddle and Eric” with its strange creature (written for anyone over 5 ).

Aunty Marmalade

Aunty Marmalade is intended for readers from the age of around seven upwards. It can also be read by parents to children from about the age of four, as a book at bedtime, or as an alternative to TV in the evening.

The story is about a girl called Florence who goes to visit her eccentric godmother, Aunty Marmalade, in her cottage by the sea.
During her stay she finds a secret passageway up to the attic where she finds out some very surprising family secrets that involve her. Things she could never have imagined.

Shortly after her discoveries she begins to have scary and unexplained experiences. Her belongings are moved around, she is rescued from the sea but who is her rescuer? And worse of all she has a feeling that she is being watched. Will Florence find the answers to all her newfound questions? Why did her mum keep all these secrets from her?

I really do hope you, and your child or children, enjoy the story. If you do purchase a copy please do let me know what you think.

Mrs Poddle and Eric

For children aged four to eight, animals and the unexpected can each be hugely important. And when the two can be brought together, then the story can be incredibly gripping and it gives children what they really want: an adventure that is exciting, but also safe.

So it is with Mrs Poodle and Eric.

Eric is Mrs Poddle’s enormous dog, and in the first adventure Eric has an encounter with a strange animal that he finds in the garden. A creature that turns out to be… a gorilla, recently escaped from the local safari park.

Matters get slightly confusing when Mrs Poodle invites the gorilla into her cottage, and Eric starts to get jealous.
So begins a series of stories in which a dog owner and her dog face the challenge of having a gorilla enter their life.
Their adventures include rescuing a piglet, hot air ballooning and taking a cart and horse to the beach.

The book can be read to children aged four to eight.

I really do hope you, and your child or children, enjoy the story. If you do purchase a copy please do let me know what you think.
